Scientific Ethics Committee

The Scientific Ethics Committee (CEC) of Universidad Finis Terrae is an autonomous and independent collegiate body that ensures scientific research respects the dignity, rights, welfare, and integrity of participants.

Our committee is accredited by the Regional Ministerial Secretary (Seremi) of Health. It also authorizes research projects conducted at Clínica Las Condes, our strategic partner, for the joint development of the Faculty of Medicine.

Objectives

  • To protect the rights, safety, and well-being of individuals participating in research projects.
  • To review, analyze, and authorize institutional research projects involving human subjects or information obtained from them.
  • To supervise and monitor ongoing research projects, ensuring strict compliance with national and international regulations on the matter.

Which research projects must be reviewed by the committee?

All research involving human subjects, identifiable information, and/or human biological samples requires approval from the Scientific Ethics Committee before commencement, in accordance with current national legislation.
